During your lifetime, you have expressed a desire to be cremated after death. Most of your children are prepared to honor this wish. One of your children cannot bear the idea that you will be cremated and runs to the mortuary with a demand that you be buried, even though it costs thousands of dollars more than the cremation you had planned. The mortuary does not know what to do The mortuary contacts its lawyer, who advises that the mortuary can be sued if it cremates you, contrary to the desires of the one child who would be emotionally distressed if you were cremated contrary to his wishes.
Arizona Revised Statute Section 32-1365.01(E) makes it clear that if the mortuary follows the wishes you have expressed in your cremation certificate, it is immune from civil and criminal liability.

The cremation certificate will open in Microsoft Word automatically. If you see a prompt asking you if you should enable macros, go ahead and enable macros.
